routing data through alternative paths as the application changes.
10 Gb Ethernet with TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE)
To improve the data throughput and latency, the Open-E NAS-R3
Enterprise and supports 10 Gbit Ethernet cards from Chelsio for
servers and storage systems. Chelsio provides the highest 10GbE
performance available. With the on-board hardware that offloads
TCP/IP processing from its host system, the Chelsio card lets
its host give more CPU cycles to applications. The result: the
system gets increased bandwidth, improved overall performance,
and reduced message latency across connections.
InfiniBand Support
You can use InfiniBand cards for connecting servers. InfiniBand
is modern, high-speed (up to 10Gbit) serial computer bus.
Proxy settings
With Open-E software you can use proxy server for Internet connections.
Multiple CPU Support (32x)
The Enterprise version supports up to 32 CPUs to concurrently
execute the server services. This increases the potential I/O
throughput of the disk server and makes it suitable for heavy
duty data requirements.
Backup-Agents (Veritas, EMC Dantz, CA BrightStor)
Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise backup agents help administrators to
back up NAS servers with backup software from Veritas, Dantz,
CA BrightStor ARCserve.Using the backup agents, you can administer
complete data protection for all data stored on the NAS server.
This improves data transfer and provides network security, task
monitoring, real-time directory browsing, and cross-platform backup
support.Other backup software can do the backup and restore over
supported file protocols.
Local Backup on Dynamic Units
In the Enterprise version a local HDD or a USB drive can be defined
as a Dynamic Unit. On this Unit you can backup the NAS server
and store the backup separately. The Dynamic Unit can be removed
without shutting down the server and acts like a normal tape drive.
Cross Data Synchronization
Open-E NAS can synchronize files and directories from one NAS
server to another. The data transfer is block- based in order
to minimize network traffic. Synchronization can be used for disaster
recovery or Disk-to-Disk backup purposes. The Enterprise version
can synchronize data in both directions: the NAS server can be
the source and destination of files at the same time, allowing
to cross-backup data on several servers
Synchronization (Destination)
Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise can be a destination for data transfer
from another Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise server.
Support for over 2TB physical and logical volumes
With Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise you will be able to build Logical
Volumes greater than 2TB. As well, use physical volumes (e.g.
RAID units) greater than 2TB.
Snapshot
Snapshot is an immediate point-in-time image of the logical volume
(LV). The snapshot image can be used for both consistent and temporary
backup, while users still have uninterrupted and complete access
to the LV. Also, if a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly
modifies a file, that file can be recovered from a previous snapshot
image.
Multiple Snapshot with the scheduling function
Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise supports ???Multiple Snapshot with Scheduling???
to create snapshots at predefined points in time (e.g. Automatically
every hour).
Multiple Logical Volume & Groups
Logical volume groups allow storage administrators to create logical
storage pools that span multiple physical disk drives. With its
support of multiple logical volume groups, Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise
makes it easier to meet the changing needs of users and applications
while making the maximum use of available physical disk space.
Online Logical Volume Expansion
Online logical volume expansion allows administrators to change
the size of storage volumes as needed without having to restart
the application, recreate the volume, and back up and restore
the data to the volume.
Support for Online Capacity Expansion
This feature supports a RAID controller's capability to increase
the size of existing units without removing your data.
UPS Support
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) eliminates the effects of a
temporary power outage and provides safe shutdown, without loss
of data, in case of power failure. The UPS device can be connected
by COM-port or USB to the NAS server.
Network UPS Support
Open-E NAS-R3 Enterprise is capable of using the SNMP (Simple
Network Management Protocol) interface for communication with
other SNMP-enabled servers (e.g., Open-E NAS-R3 servers) for a
smooth server shutdown in case of power failure. The server with
UPS sends the power failure signal through the network to other
servers (in slave mode) and will shut down all servers in the
network.
No individual client or server licenses are required
