Face it - some jobs can't be done without an external storage subsystem. But there's always the chance the subsystem might be lost or stolen. For many of us, our data is worth far more than the subsystem it's stored on. We may even consider securing the system with a lock and cable - but it won't protect against drive removal and it's really only a minor deterrent. The best approach is to make sure the data is well encrypted.

The Think Fire-n-Ice FEDS BLOCKS™ (FIPS Encrypted Data Storage) desktop storage systems feature FIPS 140-2 approved software modules providing customers with fast, secure, convenient and affordable storage solutions of up to 16TB or more.

Each external storage system incorporates SATA II or SAS hard drives for optimal performance. The external interfaces feature USB2.0/eSATA combination ports or e-SATA
with port multipliers. Each system features a pre-integrated RAID array or may be optionally configured as JBOD on request.

Encryption can be set "on-the-fly" and access to user-defined, multiple encrypted data partitions is secured by each users "hashed" password. The 256-bit AES encryption software is tested and validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard by NIST accredited testing labs.
