Secure Digital Cards

About Think Secure Digital Cards
There’s a new boom going on in the flash memory card market – it’s the SD Cards (Secure Digital) which many portable electronic device manufacturers are now implementing in place of the once preferred MMC cards. SD Cards are used in handheld devices, MP3 players, smart phones, digital camcorders, digital cameras, Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and more.

What’s the basic difference between MMC and SDC?
Secure Digital Card technology adds the copyright security feature that the entertainment industry (including the artist!) is demanding for audio and video storage files. SDC is also a more secure medium which leverages encryption technologies for safely storing your own personal data.

The physical size of the MMC and SDC cards are the same, but the electronics are wired differently. SDC cards use 9 leads as opposed to 7 leads found in MMC. The additional 2 leads are used to enable the SDC copy protection features. As such, many of the newer SDC devices are backward compatible and will accept MMC cards for unprotected storage. However, most of the older MMC compatible devices will not accept the newer SDC cards.

The Perfect Pix Secure Digital Cards from Think come with one year warranty and are among the best quality cards available in the industry.
